Buying guide

Condition & sizing

What our condition words mean, and how we measure clothing, so there are no surprises when your package arrives.

Condition

How we grade condition

Each listing shows the marketplace’s official condition, and the description and photos tell the rest. Here’s what we mean when we describe an item.

New with tags

Never worn or used, with the original tags still attached. Often marked NWT.

New / sealed

Unused, either without tags or still sealed in the original packaging. Often marked New or Sealed.

Excellent

Pre-owned but barely used. No flaws worth mentioning.

Good

Pre-owned with normal signs of use, like light wash wear or small marks. Anything notable is called out and photographed.

Flaws noted

Visible wear or a specific flaw, such as a stain, small hole or missing piece. It’s shown clearly in the photos and reflected in the price.

As described

Items with a limitation spelled out in the title, like “powers on, no remote.” What you read is what you get.

Our promise

Every item is photographed and described as it is. If you have a question about condition, ask us before you buy. We’re happy to send more photos.

Sizing

How we measure clothing

Sizes vary between brands and older pieces often run small, so measurements are the surest way to check fit. We measure with the garment laid flat.

Shirt measurements: A pit to pit, B length, C sleeve ABC

A. Pit to pit: straight across the chest, armpit to armpit. Double it for the chest size.

B. Length: from the top of the shoulder by the collar down to the bottom hem.

C. Sleeve: from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.

Pants measurements: A waist, B inseam, C rise ABC

A. Waist: straight across the top of the waistband. Double it for the waist size.

B. Inseam: from the crotch seam down the inside of the leg to the hem.

C. Rise: from the crotch seam up to the top of the waistband.

Compare with your own

Lay a favorite piece that fits you well flat and measure it the same way. Then compare.

Shoes and hats

Shoe sizes are listed as marked inside the shoe. Hats show the marked size, or “adjustable” or “stretch fit.”
